FEFCO 02 series: slotted boxes

The 02 series covers boxes made from one blank with a manufacturer's joint and slotted flaps top and bottom. The family differs only in flap length: how far the flaps reach, and whether inner and outer flaps match.

What the series has in common

  • Every 02 box in this library is drawn from the same generator: four panels, a glue tab and two flap rows.
  • Moving from 0201 to 0203 or 0206 adds layers at the ends and costs board width.

Styles in this series

CodeNameClosure
0200Half slotted containerBottom taped or glued like an RSC. The top takes a separate cover: a slip lid, a second HSC inverted over it, or a telescoping cap.
0201Regular slotted containerTape along the center seam, glue the outer flaps to the inner flaps, or staple. A fill-in pad between the inner flaps gives a flat floor when the product needs one.
0202Overlap slotted containerStaple or glue through the overlapping strip, or tape over it. The overlap is what makes stapling practical.
0203Full overlap slotted containerGlue, staple or tape. The full overlap gives a wide area for glue or stitches.
0204Center special slotted containerTape or glue the outer seam as on an RSC. The inner layer already closes edge to edge.
0205Center special overlap slotted containerStaple or glue through the outer overlap, or tape over it.
0206Center special full overlap containerGlue or staple through the outer layers; tape is optional.

0200 Half slotted container
A half slotted container is a regular slotted box with the top flaps left off, so it arrives open at the top. It is closed with a separate cover, often a second HSC turned upside down or a telescoping lid. Good for parts loaded from above by hand or robot.
0201 Regular slotted container
The regular slotted container is the standard shipping box: one blank, four panels, and top and bottom flaps all cut to half the box width so the outer flaps meet in the middle. It wastes almost no board, and every corrugator and box plant can make it. Good for most cased goods that tolerate one center seam.
0202 Overlap slotted container
An overlap slotted container is an RSC whose flaps are cut longer than half the width, so the outer flaps overlap in the middle instead of just meeting. The overlap gives a stitching or gluing strip and a little more board over the center. Good for closures that are stapled or glued through two layers.
0203 Full overlap slotted container
A full overlap container has outer flaps as long as the box is wide, so each closed end has the outer flaps lying fully on top of each other. That puts extra layers of board across the top and bottom, which helps with rough handling and with stacking the box on its side. Good for heavy or dense contents.
0204 Center special slotted container
A center special slotted container cuts the inner and outer flaps to different lengths so that both pairs meet in the center. The closed ends have two full layers with no gap, unlike an RSC whose inner flaps leave an opening. Good for long, narrow boxes where an RSC would leave a big inner gap.
0205 Center special overlap slotted container
This is a center special box whose outer flaps are lengthened to overlap part way. The inner flaps meet in the center and the outer flaps overlap over them, giving a full inner layer plus an overlap strip outside. Good for long boxes that need a closed inner layer and a stapled or glued outer closure.
0206 Center special full overlap container
The center special full overlap combines the two ideas: inner flaps meet in the center, and the outer flaps run the full width so they overlap completely. Each closed end carries a full inner layer and two full outer layers. Good for dense, heavy contents in long boxes.
