About Packgent

Packgent is a free reference and set of calculators for people who buy, specify or ship corrugated boxes but do not have a packaging engineer down the hall.

Who it is for

Buyers, operations leads, e-commerce teams and small manufacturers who need to know which box to ask for, why, and what it will cost to ship. Packaging engineers may find the calculators handy too, but the explanations are written for everyone else.

How the numbers are kept honest

  • Every factual value links to the page it came from, with the date it was last checked.
  • Every computed value shows its formula on the method page or next to the result.
  • Values that could not be checked against a primary source are not published. Where a tool needs one, it says so and waits.
  • Assumptions, such as how much strength a box loses in 90 days of storage, are labelled as assumptions and can be edited.

Estimates are not test results. For anything that matters, test the pack to an ISTA or ASTM procedure.

How it is paid for

When you send a spec from the quote form or offer surplus on the sell form, Packgent passes your request to packaging suppliers who can quote it. Nothing else on the site is gated, and there is no account to create. See privacy for what happens to what you send.
