How it works
- OD = ID + k × caliper on each axis, with k = 2 on length and width and 3 on depth for a slotted box.
- ID = OD − k × caliper. Your box maker sets the actual score allowances.

Reading the result
Box makers quote inside dimensions because that is what the product needs. Carriers and pallets see the outside. Convert before you check dimensional weight or a pallet pattern.
Going the other way, from a fixed outside size such as a shelf or a carrier limit, shows how much room is left for the product in each board.
